Pending the number of jobs, the company is handling at the time you may be the first in line or you may be shortly behind. We pride ourselves on fast and efficient work, so our wait times are a maximum of a few weeks. We encourage you to check with us to see where your project will fit in in the scheduling.
All fence installation jobs require pricing based on the number of feet in your fence project for your materials. All landscaping projects require pricing based on the types of materials, plants, and types of work. All estimates include labor fees, permit fees, and removal fees for an existing fence as well.
We use Square for invoicing, and they charge a processing fee for every credit card transaction. While it stinks to spend a few extra dollars, we are glad that we can provide the remote ability to easily complete your invoice payments.
No. Only half of the Labor fee is due up front. The Labor deposit will be included in your first invoice. The remaining Labor fee will be due within 2 days of your project’s completion.
All work is performed if the weather permits. In the event there is inclement weather Family Affair will contact you to reschedule an installation date.
We work with multiple hardware supply chains. They all charge delivery fees to transport materials to your property. If the Supplier is unable to secure all your needed materials and Family Affair must hand select items, load, transport, and deliver them to you there will be a $79 delivery fee added to your final invoice for payment due to Family Affair.
Sometimes our customers change their minds 😊 Adding a step, Making a deck bigger, Adding a gate, etc. and in these circumstances we would make adjustments for the extra materials needed and/or extra time on project to the final invoice.
Miss Utility is Virginia’s system to mark and color code lines on your property to indicate location of underground utilities. Family Affair Fences & Landscaping will contact Miss Utility on your behalf approximately 7 days prior to the beginning of your project. You can expect that Miss Utility will need to access the project area (no locks on gates) and pets must be put up. They do not call before they arrive, they just show up, typically 2 days after the ticket has been filed by our company.
All our workmanship is guaranteed for a year! If you have a question, concern, or need something adjusted call us!
We serve all cities throughout Hampton Roads. Each city has its own requirements and Family Affair will gather information for you from the city regarding your project requirements if hired. We charge a permit/HOA application fee of $175 should you want Family Affair to take care of the process for you. Please note that for all permit and HOA applications a property survey is required by those departments for approval.
**Family Affair will ensure that the project passes all required permit inspections at job completion. If an inspector ever has additional requirements to pass the work upon completion Family Affair is committed to bringing the work up to code.**
Once materials are ordered and the Supplier provides a delivery date, we will inform the Homeowner. Delivery dates and times are out of the control of Family Affair. Typically, on the day of delivery, we are notified about 30 minutes prior to delivery that it is in route to your location. We will let you know as soon as we are notified that the materials are on the way. It is not a requirement that someone be home to accept the delivery, but it is recommended. It is the homeowner's discretion whether you would like the materials placed in your driveway or your yard upon delivery. If feasible, Family Affair attempts to also be present when materials are delivered to ensure a successful delivery but that is not always possible.
Family Affair is not responsible for the quality of materials selected for projects that are ordered through a Supplier. The Supplier selects those materials for delivery. If you are unhappy with some material selections it is your responsibility to address the Supplier and seek a resolution. If you would prefer Family Affair handle the return and repurchase of items, please note there will be a $79 delivery & reprocessing fee to return and hand select new materials. If Family Affair hand selects your items, we will ensure a quality selection from the beginning to deliver to you.
Typically, our goal is to start and finish a project at one time. However, please note that sometimes we must be on other job sites during your project as we are managing multiple deliveries and projects at one time. If we get your project started and then leave for a period, we promise we will communicate with you and we will be back to complete the project asap!
There are supply and demand issues due to Covid 19 with all materials. This has caused some delays for some customers. Please be advised of this and know that Family Affair works as fast as we can to secure your materials.
WE love pets! However, we want to keep them safe while we are working. There are numerous tools and cords laying around when we are working on a project, so it is important that your pets be supervised by you when outside and not be left to roam about a job site. In addition, it is always super helpful when a customer cleans up the doggy doo prior to the installation as well.
We love when our customers have a chance to observe our installation process and comment on the outstanding work that we do. However, Family Affair is committed to safety, and we need to ensure that the project area remains free of anyone additional other than Family Affair employees. Feel free to watch us work from a distance or a window but assist us in keeping our job site safe by staying away from the job site until the project is completed.
If a container is purchased for your project to place an old fence or deck or debris in, please note that we need to be able to load all old debris into that container in a certain way for the container company to pick it back up to discard. You are welcome to discard any additional items from your property into this container on the property site AFTER the staff have loaded all debris from the tear down at your property to the container.
It is the Homeowner’s responsibility to ensure all sprinkler heads are marked on the property. (Suggest turning on system and marking the head with a flag or spray paint) Miss Utility does not mark sprinkler system lines due to them being a private utility. Family Affair will take numerous precautions to avoid all underground piping connected to the sprinkler system. However, ultimately those pipes are not visible to the naked eye so in the event a sprinkler hose is hit during installation Family Affair will not be held liable for that error. Family Affair will take every precaution to attempt to avoid any piping damage.
